Tinkering continues to be a very challenging pursuit.\u00a0Finally, in early 2020 there was a modest step forward,\u00a0in the form of an <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/12\/18\/technology\/driverless-mini-car-deliver-groceries.html?action=click&amp;module=RelatedLinks&amp;pgtype=Article\" target=\"_blank\">autonomous grocery delivery vehicle<\/a>\u00a0from a low-profile company named Nuro that met the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/c9cc7c42bed018c45ec19957f35c4fe1\" target=\"_blank\">requirements of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration<\/a>. But it will take a lot of time before there will be vehicles with performance and\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/07\/14\/us\/driverless-cars.html\" target=\"_blank\">creature comforts similar to cars driven by human beings<\/a>.
